Kevin Ikenberry's head has been in the clouds since he was young, as he has always had a fascination with space. He still harbors a dream of becoming an astronaut. Ikenberry has a diverse background in space and space science education, having managed the world-renowned U.S. Space Camp program and operated two Challenger Learning Centers. He is a retired Army officer, with a background in armor and space operations.
Ikenberry's love for space is not just limited to his professional background, as he has also translated it into a successful writing career. His science fiction novel, SLEEPER PROTOCOL (2016), was praised by Publisher's Weekly as an "emotionally powerful debut." His military science fiction novel, RUNS IN THE FAMILY (2016), has also gained a following. Ikenberry is the international bestselling author of The Protocol War series, which includes SLEEPER PROTOCOL, and is also the co-author of twelve bestselling Peacemaker novels in the Four Horsemen Universe. He is also the co-creator of The Guardian Covenant universe of mecha versus alien kaiju novels. His alternate history novel, THE CROSSING, in Eric Flint's Assiti Shards universe, was released in 2022.
Ikenberry's short fiction has been published in various international publications and anthologies. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors (IASFA), International Thriller Writers, and SIGMA, the science fiction think tank. Ikenberry continues to work with space every day and lives in Colorado with his family. His home is a hub of activity, as he continues to work on sequels for his novels and create new worlds in his writing.
