Kieran Larwood is a best-selling children's fiction author, who has written several popular book series including "The Five Realms" and "Carnival Of The Lost." He is best known for his 2012 published novel "Freaks," which won him the Chicken House/Times Children’s Fiction competition. Larwood's passion for storytelling began at a young age when he first read "The Hobbit" at the age of six.
Larwood has a strong academic background, having graduated from Southampton University with an English degree. He also completed a foundation year at Falmouth College of Art. In addition to his writing career, Larwood worked for fifteen years as a Reception class teacher, but has since transitioned to writing full-time.
Currently, Larwood resides on the Isle of Wight with his family. Despite the challenges of his previous career as a teacher, including dealing with accidents and vast amounts of paperwork, Larwood is grateful for the experiences he gained and the opportunities he had to inspire young minds. His dream is to continue writing full-time and leaving the "accidents" to someone else. Larwood's work has been recognized with several awards, including the 2011 Times Children's Fiction competition and the 2017 Blue Peter Book Award for "Podkin One-Ear."
