Kim Slater is a bestselling author, who was born and raised in Nottingham, England. From a young age, Slater discovered her love for books, citing C.S. Lewis and Enid Blyton as her early inspirations. She began crafting her own stories as a way to entertain her younger brother, developing her storytelling skills through her macabre tales. Slater's passion for writing led her to obtain a Master's degree in Creative Writing.
Slater's debut novel, Smart, was published in 2014 and quickly gained recognition, earning a spot on the longlist for the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 2015. Smart was one of 91 books nominated for this award, a significant accomplishment for any author. Slater's success continued with the publication of her psychological crime thrillers, which have since become bestsellers worldwide. She has sold over two million copies of her books and has written four Carnegie-nominated Young Adult novels as Kim Slater for Macmillan Children's Books.
