Kimmery Martin is a renowned author of fiction, specializing in adult and contemporary stories, who also happens to be a practicing emergency medicine doctor. She was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky but currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, James Fleischli, and their three children. Holding medical degrees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Martin uses her medical background to inform her writing, creating popular works of medical fiction.
Martin's two published books have received critical acclaim from various publications, including The New York Times, The Harvard Crimson, Southern Living, and The Charlotte Observer. In addition to her work as an author, Martin is a self-proclaimed "literary nerd" who enjoys interviewing other authors, teaching writing seminars, promoting reading, and reviewing books. She is also an avid travel blogger and frequently speaks at conferences, bookstores, and libraries across the United States.
Recently, Martin has been working on a new novel about a group of female doctors on the frontlines of an emerging viral pandemic, set to be released from Penguin Random House in Fall 2021. Her latest novel, The Antidote for Everything, is available now. In addition to her writing, Martin advocates for libraries and speaks at medical schools, conferences, and bookstores around the country. Her website, kimmerymartin.com, features more of her writing, including travelogues, book reviews, and social commentary.
