Kristiana Gregory

Kristiana Gregory is a well-known children’s and historical fiction author, best recognized for her “Cabin Creek Mysteries” and contributions to the “Dear America” series. Growing up in Manhattan Beach, California, two blocks from the ocean, Gregory spent much of her childhood creating stories to tell her younger siblings. Her love for storytelling began at a young age, and she wrote her first poem at eleven, only to receive her first rejection letter shortly after. Despite this early setback, Gregory pursued her dream of becoming a writer, holding various jobs such as a reporter, telephone operator, camp counselor, lifeguard, columnist, and book reviewer for the LA Times before achieving her goal.

Gregory's debut novel, “Jenny of the Tetons,” was published in 1989, and she has since written over thirty children’s books for Scholastic, Harcourt, and Holiday House. She has also ventured into self-publishing, releasing her memoir “Longhand: The Rise and Fall and Rise of My Career as a Children’s Book Author.” Gregory's writing blends facts with storytelling, allowing her to create happy endings even when history does not provide them. She has received numerous accolades for her work, including the 2012 Gold Medal for Young Adult Mystery from Literary Classics for her book “Stalked.” Gregory currently lives in Boise, Idaho, with her husband, two grown sons, and their golden retrievers.
