Kristine Smith is a bestselling science fiction author, well-known for her "Jani Killian" series and other fantasy and science fiction novels and short stories. Smith has received numerous award nominations, including for the Locus Award, the IAFA William Crawford Award, and the Philip K. Dick Memorial Award. In addition, she was the winner of the Best New Writer Award at the John W. Campbell Awards.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer, Smith spent 26 years working in pharmaceutical product R&D. She was born in the Northeast, grew up in the South, and currently resides in the Midwest. In addition to writing under her own name, Smith has also published supernatural thrillers under the name Alex Gordon. These include "Gideon" and "Jericho."
Smith is the author of the Jani Kilian series, which includes the novels "Code of Conduct," "Rules of Conflict," "Law of Survival," "Contact Imminent," "Endgame," and "Echoes of War." She has also written a prequel novella, "Incident on a Small Colony," which takes place during Jani's time on the run before the events of "Code of Conduct."
