Kyle Mills is a successful American author of political thriller novels. He was born in 1966 and grew up in Oregon, although his father's job as an FBI agent meant that the family lived all over, including Virginia, DC, London, Wyoming, and Maryland. This nomadic childhood allowed Mills to learn a great deal about the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, which he would later incorporate into his writing.\n \n Mills' father's career also provided the initial inspiration for his novels. Growing up, Mills was fascinated by tales of criminal chases and espionage, and he absorbed a vast amount of knowledge about the FBI, CIA, and Special Forces. However, it wasn't until later in life that Mills discovered his passion for writing. After graduating from college in the late 1980s, Mills pursued a corporate job and lived a conventional lifestyle. But he soon found himself drawn to the unconventional, artistic people around him and began to explore his own creative interests.
One of these interests was rock climbing, which Mills had been fascinated by since college. He began dating a girl who also enjoyed climbing, and the two of them decided to move to Wyoming, where they could be closer to taller rocks and more open space. It was in Wyoming that Mills met a community of incredible people who seemed to have no limitations, and he was inspired to become more creative himself. He began writing in his free time, eventually publishing his first novel, Rising Phoenix, in 1997.
Today, Mills is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of twenty-two political thrillers, including the Mitch Rapp series, which he took over from the late Vince Flynn. He still draws on his contacts in the intelligence community to give his books a sense of realism, and he continues to explore his passion for outdoor sports and travel with his wife. They split their time between Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Granada, Spain.
