L.J. Ross is a bestselling English author, best known for her crime thriller and romantic suspense novels. She writes the popular DCI Ryan series, which is set in Northumberland, the region where she grew up. After completing her undergraduate and postgraduate Law degrees from King's College London, Ross worked as a lawyer in the City of London. However, she decided to pursue a career change following the birth of her son and began writing what would become her first novel, "Holy Island."
Ross's debut novel was published in 2015 and quickly became a bestseller in the UK and Australia. Since then, she has released over twenty novels, all of which have been top three global bestsellers and most of which have been UK #1 bestsellers. Her novels have sold over 7 million copies worldwide, and she has garnered a loyal following of readers who have helped her books reach the coveted #1 spot on pre-order. In addition to her DCI Ryan series, Ross has also created a new series of thriller novels based around the character of 'Dr Alexander Gregory' and a new series of standalone romantic suspense novels featuring strong female protagonists.
Ross was born in Northumberland, England, and studied Law at King's College, University of London, as well as in Paris and Florence. She spent much of her working life in London as a lawyer before deciding to pursue her dream to write. She now writes full-time and lives with her husband and son in Northumberland and Edinburgh. Ross is a keen philanthropist and has supported numerous non-profit programs, including founding several of her own, such as the Lindisfarne Reading Challenge and the Lindisfarne Prize for Debut Crime Fiction.
