Laura Caldwell is a renowned American author, known for her works in chick lit, mystery, and thriller genres. Before becoming a novelist, Caldwell worked as a civil trial lawyer. Her legal background became the foundation for her Izzy McNeil character, a former lawyer turned investigator, which she created after leaving law behind. In addition to her work as a novelist, Caldwell is also a freelance magazine writer.
Caldwell's first foray into publishing was in 2005 with her debut mystery, Look Closely, which received critical acclaim and widespread popularity. Most of her novels have received rave reviews, with The Rome Affair being declared a summer must-read and one of her best books by the Chicago Sun Times. Burning Map, which was arguably her first complete book, appeared on Barnes & Noble's Best of 2002 list. Caldwell's novels have been translated into over thirteen languages and published in over 25 countries, a testament to their popularity worldwide. Her work has been praised by numerous publications, with Booklist declaring her one of the most innovative and talented writers of her age.
