Laura Morelli is a historical fiction novelist, known for her series "Venetian Artisans." She was born and raised in Georgia, where she spent her childhood exploring the outdoors and developing a love for art and history. Morelli's passion for artistic traditions began during a trip to Venice as a teenager, where she was fascinated by the Murano glass-making process.
Morelli holds a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University and has used her education to inform her writing. She has written several travel guides, including "Made in Italy," "Made in France," and "Made in the Southwest," which lead travelers to authentic experiences. In addition to her work as a travel guide author, Morelli has written for numerous national publications, including USA Today and the New York Daily News. She has also taught at several universities and has spoken to public audiences across the U.S. and Europe.
In addition to her non-fiction work, Morelli is an award-winning and USA Today bestselling historical novelist. She is passionate about bringing the stories of art history to life and has won several awards for her writing, including an IPPY Award, Benjamin Franklin Award, and an IndieBrag Medallion. Her debut novel, "The Gondola Maker," was a starred review in Publishers Weekly and was followed by several other successful historical novels, including "The Painter's Apprentice," "The Giant," "The Night Portrait," and "The Stolen Lady."
