Lauren Baratz-Logsted is an American author, well-known for her works in women's fiction, young adult novels, and children's books. After graduating from the University of Connecticut at Storrs, where she majored in psychology, Lauren embarked on her career journey in a bookstore called Klein's of Westport, where she worked for 11 years. During her time at the bookstore, she also took on various roles, including that of a book reviewer, freelance editor, and even a window washer for the late best-selling novelist Robert Ludlum.
Growing up in Monroe, Connecticut, Lauren was surrounded by books, as her father owned a drugstore and her mother worked there as a pharmacist. Her love for books was further nurtured in college, where she worked as a doughnut salesperson during semester breaks. After leaving Klein's of Westport in 1994, Lauren turned to writing full-time, a journey that was marked by hard work and perseverance before she finally received an offer from Red Dress Ink to publish her first novel, The Thin Pink Line, in 2003.
Lauren's writing career has been nothing short of prolific, with nearly 40 books published for adults, teens, and children. Her books have been published in over 11 countries, and she has received numerous accolades for her work, including a starred Kirkus review for The Thin Pink Line. In addition to her successful writing career, Lauren is also a dedicated mother and wife, living in Danbury, Connecticut, with her husband and daughter. She is known for her love of the color green and non-cat animals, particularly penguins. Despite the challenges she faced in her writing journey, Lauren's determination and hard work have paid off, making her a respected and successful author in her field.
In 2017, Lauren published I Love You, Michael Collins, a children's book that has since appeared on 10 state award lists. In February 2021, she co-authored a comedic romance novel, Joint Custody, with her daughter, Jackie. Lauren's dedication to her craft and her ability to adapt to different genres have made her a versatile and accomplished author. She continues to live in Danbury, Connecticut, with her husband, daughter, and their beloved cat, Yoyo.
