Lauren Myracle is an accomplished American author, well-known for her works in children and young adult fiction. Born in Colorado in 1969, Myracle attended Colorado State University, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in English. Her passion for writing led her to Vermont College, from which she holds a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults.
Before dedicating her career to writing, Myracle briefly pursued a teaching path. However, her love for storytelling and her desire to make a difference in young readers' lives eventually led her to focus on her writing. Myracle's works have been recognized for their significance in the genre, with her first novel, "Kissing Kate," selected as one of the "Best Books for Young Adults" by the American Library Association in 2004. Booklist also named it one of the "Top Ten Youth Romances" and "Top Ten Books by New Writers" of the year.
Lauren Myracle has written numerous young adult novels, including the popular IM series, consisting of "ttyl," "ttfn," and "l8r, g8r." These books, written in instant message format, gained significant attention and controversy upon their release due to their realistic portrayal of teenagers' lives. Myracle's middle-grade novel, "Eleven," was published in 2004, followed by its young adult sequels "Twelve," "Thirteen," and "Thirteen Plus One." Additionally, Myracle has penned the Upside-Down Magic series, The Wishing Day trilogy, and the New York Times best-selling Winnie Years series. She currently resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her family.
