Ľaurie Cass is an American author, best known for her cozy mystery novels. She has written two series, the Beth Kennedy Mysteries and the Bookmobile Cat Mysteries. Cass grew up in Michigan, where she developed a love for reading at a young age. She spent her childhood picking berries and reading books, often preferring the company of characters like Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden over playing with her peers. As she grew older, her reading tastes expanded to include authors such as Dick Francis, Josephine Tey, Ellis Peters, and John D. MacDonald.
Cass's passion for reading and storytelling can be traced back to her childhood, where she often immersed herself in books and created whole new worlds in her imagination. This ability to conjure up new worlds and characters is evident in her writing, which is known for its simplicity and captivating storytelling. Her books are easy to get lost in, and readers often find it difficult to put them down once they start.
In addition to writing, Cass enjoys a variety of hobbies and activities. She lives in Northern Lower Michigan with her husband and their cat. When she's not working on her next novel, she can be found working her day job, reading, gardening, skiing, playing the piano and violin, and dabbling in photography. Cass also writes the PTA Mysteries under the name Laura Alden.
Cass's journey to becoming a published author began in the late nineties, after she spent several years working in management. Feeling the need for a change, she took a job with fewer responsibilities. However, she quickly became bored and began to consider writing as a way to stimulate her mind. She started reading books on writing and came across a sentence that resonated with her: "What's it going to be, reasons or results?" This phrase inspired her to sit down and write her first book, which was published 13 years later. Cass's dedication to her craft and her passion for storytelling have resulted in several successful mystery series, delighting readers with her captivating characters and engaging stories.
