Laurie R. King

Laurie R. King is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her detective fiction novels. She was born on September 19, 1952, in Oakland, California, and went on to attend the University of California Santa Cruz, where she graduated with a degree in comparative religion in 1977. Later, she earned a master's degree in theology from the Graduate Theological Union, with a thesis focused on "Feminine Aspects of Yahweh." She received an honorary degree from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific.

King's writing career has been marked by numerous awards and accolades. Her first book of the Kate Martinelli series, "Grave Talent," won the prestigious Edgar Award for Best First Novel in 1994.
