Lavie Tidhar

Lavie Tidhar is a bestselling author known for his unique and innovative approach to science fiction and fantasy. Raised on a kibbutz in Israel, Tidhar has traveled extensively since he was a teenager, living in various countries including South Africa, the UK, Laos, and Vanuatu. This diverse background is reflected in his writing, which combines a wide range of genres such as autobiographies, historical detective, science fiction, poetry, and thriller fiction.

Tidhar began his publishing career with a poetry collection in Hebrew in 1998 and quickly moved on to fiction. He gained early recognition for his work with the 2003 Clarke-Bradbury competition, which he won with his story 'Temporal Spiders, Spatial Webs'. His linked story collection 'HebrewPunk' (2007) is a notable example of his ability to blend different genres, featuring Jewish pulp fantasy. Tidhar has also collaborated with other authors, including Nir Yaniv, with whom he co-wrote the dark fantasy novel 'The Tel Aviv Dossier' (2009).

In addition to his fiction, Tidhar is also an advocate for international science fiction and has worked to bring it to a wider audience. He has edited two anthologies, 'The Apex Book of World SF' (2009) and 'The Apex Book of World SF 2' (2012), and is the editor-in-chief of the World SF Blog. Tidhar's work has been well-received and he has been a finalist for several awards, including the World Fantasy Award, the British Science Fiction Award, and the Kitschie. He currently lives in London with his wife.

Tidhar's writing spans various genres, from literary fiction to genre works, and includes novels, novellas, comics, and children's books. Some of his notable works include 'Osama' (2011), which won the World Fantasy Award, and 'Central Station' (2016), which won the Campbell and Neukom prizes. His writing is known for its sophistication and complexity, as well as its ability to combine different genres and themes in unique and interesting ways.
