Lee Bacon is an American bestselling author, particularly known for his Joshua Dread series for children. He was born and raised in Texas, where he discovered his passion for writing at a young age. Bacon attended Pace University in New York and pursued a master’s program in publishing. It was during his two-year stay in Munich, Germany, that he began writing children’s books in earnest. His Joshua Dread series, which features superheroes and supervillains, was nominated for a Nutmeg Award in 2015 and was selected by the Texas Library Association for the Spirit of Texas Reading Program. The series has been translated into several languages, including German, Spanish, and French.
Growing up in College Station, Texas, Bacon began writing stories and poems in elementary school to make his classmates laugh. Over the years, he worked various jobs, including farm laborer, art gallery assistant, bartender, and assistant literary agent before becoming a full-time writer and freelance translator. He currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife and two cats.
Bacon has written several books for young people, including the Joshua Dread and Legendtopia series, as well as the bestselling Audible Original audio story The Mystery of Alice. His upcoming novel, The Last Human, is being developed as a major motion picture by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller and Sony Pictures. Bacon’s books have been translated into over twenty languages, a testament to his global appeal and the universal appeal of his stories.
