Lincoln Child is an acclaimed American author, best known for his collaborative work with Douglas Preston on a series of techno-thriller and horror novels. Child was born in Westport, Connecticut, and developed an early interest in writing. He wrote his first short story, "Bumble the Elephant," in second grade and continued to write throughout his childhood. After graduating from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, with an English degree, Child moved to New York in 1979 to pursue a career in publishing. He worked at St. Martin's Press, where he edited over a hundred books, including works by James Herriot and M. M. Kaye.
In addition to his work in publishing, Child also developed an interest in technology and programming. He left publishing in 1987 to work at MetLife, where he did highly technical programming and systems analysis. However, his interest in writing never waned, and he continued to write during his time at MetLife. His first novel, "Relic," was published in 1995, and he left MetLife a few years later to write full-time.
Child has since become a highly regarded author in the techno-thriller and horror genres. He and Preston have written numerous novels together, including the popular Pendergast series. Child has also published several solo novels, including the Jeremy Logan books "Full Wolf Moon" and "The Forgotten Room." His novels have been successful, with 26 of his joint and solo books becoming bestsellers, including three that debuted at number one on the New York Times list. Child currently lives in Sarasota, Florida.
