She currently resides in Arizona, after having spent a significant portion of her life in the Seattle area. Buroker is an avid traveler, hiker, and tennis player, often incorporating elements of her diverse interests into her writing.

Prior to her career as a novelist, Buroker held numerous jobs, including work in fast food restaurants, as a lifeguard, and in marketing and blogging. Additionally, she served in the US army.
