Lloyd Biggle, Jr., born in Waterloo, Iowa in 1923, is a renowned author in the science fiction genre. After serving in World War II and resuming his education, he became one of the old-time masters of the field, with a string of best-selling novels during the sixties and seventies. Biggle's military service had a significant impact on his life, as he was wounded twice, with the second wound leaving him disabled for life.
Despite the challenges he faced, Biggle persevered and earned his A.B. Degree with High Distinction from Wayne State University and M.M. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan. His academic background in music and philosophy would later influence his science fiction writing, which often explored intellectual and cultural themes. In the 1950s, Biggle taught at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University before turning to writing full-time.
Biggle's writing career began in 1955, and he continued to publish novels and short stories until his death. His debut novel, "All the Colors of Darkness," was published in 1963 and marked the beginning of his successful career in the science fiction genre. Biggle's works often featured complex characters, intricate plotlines, and intellectual puzzles, making him a favorite among science fiction fans. His contributions to the genre have earned him a place as one of the old-time masters of science fiction.
