Loretta Jackson, along with her sister Vickie Britton, is a successful co-authoring duo with over 40 novels and 70 short stories to their name. Born in Magnolia, Arkansas, Jackson is the third of five siblings and spent her childhood traveling across the country with her army family. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Kansas, where she majored in Creative Writing. Jackson's early experiences of traveling have fueled her love for exploration, and she and her sister have traveled to various exotic locations around the world, including Peru, China, India, and Russia. However, given that most of their novels are Westerns set in the United States, they also do a significant amount of traveling within the country.\n \nJackson's interests lie in history and Native American culture, which is evident in her work. She has collaborated with the United Sioux tribe Pute Tiyosape to publish a book about the culture and history of a small Sioux village in Wanblee, South Dakota. Jackson has also taught Creative Writing and English at the Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where she developed a deep appreciation for Native American culture.
Jackson and Britton have written several series, including the Ardis Cole series, The Luck of the Draw Series, and the High Country Mystery series. They have also published numerous standalone novels. The sisters are known for their extensive research, often traveling to the settings they use in their novels. Jackson's passion for history and Native American culture, along with her love for exploration, has significantly contributed to the success of her novels. She currently resides in Junction City, Kansas.
