Lorrie Moore

Lorrie Moore is a highly acclaimed literary fiction author, best known for her humor-infused work. She was born in Glens Falls, New York, in 1957 and was given the name Marie Lorena Moore, but was nicknamed Lorrie by her parents. Moore grew up in a family where her father was an executive with an insurance company and her mother was a housewife, who had previously worked as a nurse.

Moore has been residing in Madison, Wisconsin, for over fourteen years, where she has been an English professor at the University of Wisconsin since 1984. Her work is known to be full of wit, wisecracks, pithy one-liners, and repartee. She has received numerous accolades for her writing, including a Lannan Foundation fellowship and the PEN/Malamud Award for her achievement in the short story. Moreover, she is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Lorrie Moore is the author of several highly regarded story collections, including "Like Life," "Self-Help," and "Birds of America," as well as the novels "Who Will Run the Frog Hospital?" and "Anagrams." She is currently a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where she continues to teach and inspire students with her writing and expertise in English literature.
