Louann Brizendine

Louann Brizendine is a highly accomplished American neuropsychiatrist, author, and scientist. She is known for her expertise in the relationship dynamics that result from the neurobiology of male and female brains. Brizendine was born on December 30, 1952, and completed her degree in Neurobiology at the University of California, Berkeley. She then went on to graduate from the Yale School of Medicine and completed a residency in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Brizendine has served on the faculties of both Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical School. Currently, she holds the Lynne and Marc Benioff endowed chair in Psychiatry at UCSF. In addition to her clinical and teaching duties, Brizendine is an active researcher, writer, and public speaker. She is the founder and director of the Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic at UCSF, which she established in 1994.

As an author, Brizendine has written several best-selling books, including "The Female Brain" and "The Male Brain," which have been translated into multiple languages. Her latest book, "The Upgrade: How the Female Brain Gets Stronger and Better in Midlife and Beyond," is available for pre-order.
