Louise Doughty is a highly acclaimed author, playwright, and critic. She has written a total of nine novels, including "Crazy Paving," "Dance with Me," "Honey-Dew," "Fires in the Dark," "Stone Cradle," "A Novel in a Year," "Whatever You Love," "Black Water," and the soon-to-be-published "Platform Seven." Doughty has also written five plays for radio and one work of non-fiction.
Her most recent book, "Black Water," was published by Faber & Faber UK and Farrar Straus & Giroux in the US. It was nominated as one of the New York Times Book Review Top 100 Notable Books of 2016. Doughty's previous book, "Apple Tree Yard," was a number one bestseller, selling over half a million copies in the UK alone and has been translated into thirty territories worldwide. A four-part TV adaptation with Emily Watson in the lead role was broadcast on Sunday nights on BBC1 in January 2017.
Doughty's sixth novel, "Whatever You Love," was shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award and longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. She has won awards for radio drama and short stories, along with publishing one work of non-fiction, "A Novel in a Year," based on her popular newspaper column. She is a critic and cultural commentator for UK and international newspapers and broadcasts regularly for the BBC. Doughty has also been a judge for many prizes and awards including the Man Booker Prize and the Costa Novel Award. She currently lives in London.
