Louise Douglas is a successful author of general fiction and horror fiction, born in Yorkshire but spending much of her childhood there before moving to Somerset, where she has lived for the better part of two decades. She is well-known for her contemporary Gothic novels, which are often inspired by the places she has visited or where she lives in the Mendips, close to Bristol in the UK. Her debut novel, The Love of My Life, was longlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award, and her second book, Missing You, won the RNA Readers' Choice Award. Her third book, The Secrets Between Us, was a 2012 Richard and Judy Summer Read.
In addition to her success in the UK, Douglas has also found popularity in Sicily, where her latest novel, The Secret of Villa Alba, is set. She has won the RNA Jackie Collins Romantic Thriller award 2021 for The House by the Sea, which has sold more than a quarter of a million copies. Douglas is currently working on the third of the Brittany collection of novels set in Finistère, all of which involve missing people. The Lost Notebook was a UK number one best-seller, and The Summer of Lies will be published in February 2024.
When she's not writing, Douglas enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and animals. She is passionate about nature, being outside, drawing, wildlife, walking, and books. At the moment, all of her spare time is being taken up by their new Border Collie puppy, Luna.
