Louise Penny

Louise Penny is a highly acclaimed Canadian author, well-known for her mystery novels featuring Inspector Armand Gamache and set in Quebec. Penny has won numerous awards for her work, including multiple Agatha Awards, and has been a finalist for the prestigious Edgar Award for Best Novel. In 2017, she was appointed to the Order of Canada for her contributions to Canadian culture.

Penny was introduced to mystery novels at a young age, thanks to her mother's love of fiction, non-fiction, and crime. She enjoyed reading works from authors such as Agatha Christie and Michael Innes, and always dreamed of writing her own novels one day. After working for many years as a radio host and journalist for the CBC, Penny was finally given the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a published author, and she has never looked back.

Penny's novels are known for their British-styled whodunit mysteries, and are inspired by the authors she enjoyed reading as a child. Her writing has been praised for its depth, complexity, and emotional resonance, and her characters are widely considered to be some of the most fully realized and compelling in the genre. Penny's novels have become bestsellers in both Canada and the United States, and she has a devoted following of readers around the world.

In addition to her success as a novelist, Penny is also an active member of the writing community. She has served as a judge for the prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction, and has been a guest speaker at numerous writing conferences and festivals. Penny currently lives in a small village south of Montreal, where she continues to write and publish her highly acclaimed mystery novels.
