Lucy Banks is an English author, known for her paranormal and mystery novels. She was born in rural Hertfordshire but later moved to Devon as an adult, where she currently resides with her family. Banks has always had a deep love for reading, which began in her childhood and continued into her adult life. She would often spend her time prowling car boot sales and lurking in libraries to find books to satisfy her literary cravings. Her passion for books is so great that she has referred to herself as a "book python," due to the vast number of books that fill her home.
Banks' love for writing began at a young age, with her regular forays into fictional realms. After teaching English literature to students for a few years, she decided to become a copywriter and even set up her own copywriting company. However, her desire to create never waned, and she turned her love for writing into a full-time career. Banks would often write in the wee small hours of the night and in stolen moments during the day, using her insomnia to her advantage. Her debut novel, "The Case of the Green-dressed Ghost," was published in 2017, and is the first in the series that explores the strange, sinister, and slightly silly world of Dr. Ribero's Agency of the Supernatural.
Banks' writing is often inspired by her surroundings in South-West England, an area that is rife with spectral tales and plenty of bugs. In 2016, she won Amazon’s A New Night Before Christmas writing competition with her entry about a slug living under a family’s floorboards, who assumes Christmas is not for him, until he comes face to face with Father Christmas. Her writing style has been described as "Ghostbusters with a British accent," making her a unique voice in the paranormal and mystery genres.
