Lucy Foley is a bestselling author known for her contemporary, historical fiction, mystery, and fiction books. She has several novels to her name, including The Guest List, The Hunting Party, and The Invitation. The Guest List was a Reese's Book Club pick, and both The Guest List and The Hunting Party have appeared on the New York Times Bestseller list.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Foley worked as an editor in the publishing industry. She was employed at Headline and later at Hodder, where she worked with young adult writers such as Lauren Oliver and Laini Taylor. Foley's experience in the publishing industry has given her a unique insight into the writing and publishing process.
Foley is originally from England and currently resides in London. She loves to travel, both in real life and in her writing, with some of her books featuring far-flung locations. Her latest novel, The Invitation, is set in the film world of the 1950s along the Italian Riviera. Foley's debut novel, The Book of Lost & Found, was published in early 2015. Her subsequent novels, The Invitation and Last Letter to Istanbul, were also successful historical fiction novels.
Foley then turned to writing crime thrillers, starting with The Hunting Party, her first Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller. This was followed by The Guest List, a murder mystery set at a wedding on an island off the coast of Ireland, which won the Goodreads Choice Awards and has sold over three million copies. Her latest novel, The Paris Apartment, is a number one New York Times bestseller and Sunday Times bestseller. Foley's books have been translated into over 40 languages, and all three murder mysteries are currently being adapted for TV and film. Foley has also written a short story for the brand new Marple collection, a series of short stories featuring Agatha Christie's legendary detective Jane Marple, which was released in September 2022.
