Lynda La Plante is a highly acclaimed English novelist, screenwriter, and former actress. Born on March 15, 1946, in the United Kingdom, she was raised in Liverpool and trained at the Royal-Academy of Dramatic Art. Before turning to writing, La Plante performed with the Royal-Shakespeare Company and appeared in various television shows under the stage name Lynda Marchal.
La Plante is best known for her Prime Suspect ITV series, which she adapted from her novels and produced through her production company, La Plante Productions.
