Lynne McEwan

Glasgow-born Lynne McEwan is a successful author, best known for her novels in the "Detective Oliver Shona" series. Prior to her career as a writer, McEwan worked as a national newspaper photographer, covering significant events such as the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War. She also reported on many high-profile murder cases, which likely provided inspiration for her crime fiction.

McEwan is currently based in Lincoln, where she is in the final year of an MA in Crime Fiction at the University of East Anglia. Her writing draws from her extensive experience in journalism and her personal background, with her DI Shona Oliver series set on the Solway Firth, a border between Scotland and England. In addition to her writing, McEwan is also a lifeboat volunteer in the series' location, adding a layer of authenticity to her work.

McEwan's photography career allowed her to travel and cover important events, providing her with a wealth of material to draw upon in her writing. Her experience reporting on murders no doubt contributes to the realistic and gripping nature of her crime novels. McEwan's ability to balance her writing with her other commitments, such as her lifeboat volunteer work and studies, is a testament to her dedication and passion for her craft. She splits her time between Lincolnshire and Scotland, allowing her to stay connected to both the settings of her writing and her personal roots.
