N.K. Jemisin

N.K. Jemisin is a highly acclaimed author of speculative fiction novels. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Jemisin grew up in New York City and Alabama, before spending a decade in Massachusetts. She then returned to New York City, where she currently resides. Jemisin has a B.S. in psychology from Tulane University and an M. Ed from the University of Maryland College Park. In addition to her writing, she also works as a career counselor.

Jemisin has been nominated for several prestigious awards in the science fiction and fantasy genre. In 2010, she was nominated for the Nebula Award. She has also been a finalist for the Crawford and the James Tiptree, Jr. awards. Her short fiction and novels have been nominated multiple times for Hugo, World Fantasy, and Nebula awards, with her novel "The Fifth Season" winning the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2016. This novel was also a New York Times Notable Book of 2015.

Jemisin is perhaps best known for her Inheritance Trilogy series. She is a prolific writer and has written numerous novels, including "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms," which won the Locus Award for Best First Novel in 2011. She is also a science fiction and fantasy reviewer for the New York Times and can be found online at her website, nkjemisin.com. With her unique storytelling and rich world-building, Jemisin has established herself as a prominent and influential voice in the world of speculative fiction.
