Nancy Star is a successful author of urban fantasy and literary fiction, hailing from Queens, New York. Star's passion for writing began at a young age when she penned her first full-length novel as a high school student. She wrote much of the story on paper towels and gave it to her best friend, only to find out later that it had been lost. This experience inspired Star to publish her future works in a more enduring form.
Star's love for reading began in her childhood, with a particular fondness for psychological horrors such as Stephen King's "Carrie" and "Rosemary's Baby" by Ira Levin. However, she also had a soft spot for fiction that combined the serious with the funny, a trait that she has carried with her into adulthood. Star's 2020 novel "Rules for Moving" showcases her love for fiction, combining a strong narrative voice, psychological depth, humor, and surprise, reminiscent of the works she enjoyed growing up.
Nancy Star is the bestselling author of six novels, including "Sisters One, Two, Three" and "Rules For Moving," which is set to be released in the Spring. Her novels have been translated into many languages, optioned for television, and chosen as Literary Guild and Mystery Guild Signature Series selections. In addition to her novels, Star's essays have been featured in various publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Family Circle. Before pursuing writing full-time, Star spent over a decade working in the movie business as an executive. She now resides in New Jersey with her husband, where they are happy to welcome visits from their grown children, grandchildren, and assorted pets.
