Naomi Novik

Naomi Novik is a highly accomplished American author, best known for her historical fantasy and alternate history novels. Born in 1973 in New York City, Naomi's passion for literature developed at a young age. By the time she was six, she had already read The Lord of the Rings, and at seven, she discovered her love for Jane Austen. This early interest in reading would eventually lead Naomi to study English Literature at Brown University. She also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Columbia University, which she put to use working on the Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide computer game. However, Naomi soon realized that her true passion lay in writing fantasy rather than developing video games.

Naomi's most famous work is the Temeraire series, which consists of eight novels. This series combines historical fiction with fantasy elements, taking place during the Napoleonic era and featuring dragons as a central theme. Naomi's interest in this time period and her love of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series are evident in her writing. In addition to her Temeraire series, Naomi has also written several standalone novels, including "Uprooted" and "Spinning Silver," both of which have received critical acclaim and numerous awards.

Naomi's writing is heavily influenced by her love of history and fantasy literature.
