Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich is a prominent American author, known for his works in the genres of alternate history novels and non-fiction books. He is particularly famous for his series of Civil War novels, which includes the Gettysburg Trilogy, as well as the Revolutionary War and Pacific War series. Gingrich's political career has been equally impressive, having helped end 40 years of Democratic rule in the House and serving as the Speaker of the House from 1995 to 1999.

Born as Newton McPherson in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Gingrich later moved to Georgia and became a renowned American politician. He served as the representative of the 6th Republican congressional district of Georgia from 1979 to 1999, and later became a candidate for the presidential nomination of the Republican Party. Gingrich is also well-known for his role in the "Contract with America," which led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 and resulted in the first Republican majority in the House in 40 years.

As Speaker of the House, Gingrich disrupted the status quo by moving power out of Washington and back to the American people. He oversaw the passage of welfare reform, the first balanced budget in a generation, and the first tax cut in sixteen years. Gingrich also restored funding to strengthen defense and intelligence capabilities, an action later praised by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.

In addition to his political career, Gingrich is a prolific author, having published twenty-nine books, including fourteen fiction and nonfiction New York Times best-sellers. His non-fiction works include "Breakout," "A Nation Like No Other," "Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny," "To Save America," "Rediscovering God in America," and "5 Principles for a Successful Life." He is also the author of a series of historical fiction books, including "Gettysburg," "Grant Comes East," "Never Call Retreat: Lee and Grant the Final Victory," "1945," "Pearl Harbor," and "Days of Infamy."

Gingrich is also a regular guest on national political shows and has become one of the most highly sought-after public speakers, accepting invitations to speak before prestigious organizations throughout the world. He is widely recognized for his commitment to a better system of health for all Americans and has received numerous awards for his contributions to healthcare, including the American Diabetes Association's highest non-medical award and the March of Dimes' 1995 Citizen of the Year award.
