Niall Ferguson

Niall Ferguson is a renowned author, historian, and professor, currently holding positions at several prestigious institutions. He is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and a senior fellow at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University, where he was formerly the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History. In addition, Ferguson is a visiting professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing and the founder and managing director of advisory firm Greenmantle LLC.

Ferguson has an impressive publishing record, having authored 15 books on a wide range of topics. His work includes a biography of Henry Kissinger, with the first volume, "Kissinger, 1923-1968: The Idealist," published in 2015. The World's Banker: The History of the House of Rothschild, which won the Wadsworth Prize for Business History, is another notable title among his many works. Ferguson has also explored the rise of the West and the decline of institutions in books such as "Civilization: The West and the Rest" and "The Great Degeneration: How Institutions Decay and Economies Die." His interests extend to finance, as seen in "High Financier: The Lives and Time of Siegmund Warburg."

In addition to his written work, Ferguson has made significant contributions to television documentaries. His six-part PBS series, "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World," based on his best-seller, won an International Emmy for best documentary in 2009. The book "Civilization" was also adapted into a documentary series. Ferguson's expertise has been recognized with several awards, including the Benjamin Franklin Award for Public Service. His most recent book, "The Square and the Tower: Networks on Power from the Freemasons to Facebook," was published in 2018.
