Nick James is an American young adult fantasy author who was born and raised in the small rural island town of Anacortes in Washington. From a young age, James was encouraged to write and publish his stories. His first brush with publishing was in the third grade, where he was prompted to not only write stories but to publish, bind, and present them. This early experience sparked a love for storytelling and publishing that would stay with James for years to come.
As a child, James was a voracious reader of comic books, which played a significant role in shaping his love for big drama and dialogue. Despite growing up in a small town with no shopping malls or movie theaters, James' active imagination kept him entertained. He would often take a thirty-mile drive "off island" to get his hands on the latest comic books.
James began writing seriously when he entered college. After writing five "practice" novels, he started querying what was to become his debut novel, Skyship Academy. After some time, James was fortunate enough to find a publisher in Flux. Now, James looks forward to sharing his debut novel with readers and continuing to create captivating stories for years to come.
