Nick Offerman was born in Joliet, Illinois, on June 26, 1970, and grew up in the nearby town of Minooka. He is the son of Cathy (nee Roberts) and Ric Offerman, a social studies teacher at a junior high school in Channahon. Offerman is an American actor, writer, and carpenter, who is best known for his breakout role as Ron Swanson in the critically acclaimed NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
Offerman's performance as Ron Swanson earned him the Television Critics Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy. His portrayal of the libertarian-leaning director of the Parks and Recreation Department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, was widely popular and brought Offerman widespread recognition. His character was known for his love of woodworking, breakfast food, and disdain for government bureaucracy.
Since the end of Parks and Recreation, Offerman has taken on several notable roles in both television and film.
