Nick Stone

Andy McNab is a renowned author, best known for his fictional series featuring the popular character Nick Stone. Nick Stone is a former British SAS operative who has since become a paid mercenary. Throughout the series, Stone is depicted as embarking on dangerous missions across various countries, often for the British SAS and CIA in earlier novels, and later as a mercenary trying to evade capture from enemies worldwide.

McNab's portrayal of Nick Stone is rooted in his own experiences, having served in the British Special Air Service (SAS) for ten years. After leaving the SAS, McNab became a bestselling author, drawing from his military experience to create the thrilling and action-packed Nick Stone series.

Born in Cambridge in 1966, McNab, whose real name is Steven Billy Mitchell, was the son of a Scottish father and a Haitian mother. He joined the army at the age of sixteen and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a member of the SAS. McNab's first novel, "Mr Clarinet," was published in 1998 and went on to win several awards, including the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, the International Thriller Writers Award for Best First Novel, and the Macavity Award for Best First Novel. The novel was also nominated for The Barry Award for Best British Novel.

Since then, McNab has authored several other novels, including the Nick Stone series, which has become a favorite among readers of thriller and action fiction. His writing style is known for its gritty realism and attention to detail, drawing from his own experiences in the military to create vivid and engaging stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats.
