Nicky Charles is a Canadian author who has made a name for herself in the genres of Suspense, Romance, and Fantasy. She currently resides in Canada with her cats and is a strong supporter of various charities, including animal shelters and food banks. In her writing, Charles uses Canadian spelling, which she sees as a way to support her country. She enjoys reading, gardening, and taking day trips, and has a fondness for dark chocolate.
Charles became an author quite by accident. In 2009, she penned a fanfiction for the old TV series "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" and quickly became hooked on storyttelling. This led her to join a fan-based group for the show, where she met her friend and editor, Jan Gordon. It was an idle comment made by Gordon that inspired Charles to write her first original story. Over the course of two months, she hastily wrote a suspense-driven romance entitled "Forever In Time" and presented it to the world in August of 2009. She continued to expand the Law of the Lycans series and has a long list of possible plots waiting in the wings.
Charles is an independent writer/publisher who works full-time and writes in her off-hours. She hopes to retire from her day job in the next few years and concentrate more of her energy on her passion for writing. When she writes, Charles sees the story unfolding in her head like a movie and strives to include enough detail so that readers can 'see' the story just as she does. She tries to make each character different, with an interesting backstory, logical actions and feelings, and hopes to make the reader care about what happens to the people in the story.
Charles is known for her popular series "Law of the Lycans" and her paranormal romance stories have received numerous high ratings on Apple's iBookstore. She is endearing to her fans as she writes for the sake of writing alone and encourages those who want to support her financially to give it to charity instead. Each of the books in her most famous series has received a solid average rating of four stars and above out of five in Goodreads.
