Nicola Griffith is a highly acclaimed author, renowned for her work in thriller, fantasy, and fiction genres. Born in Yorkshire, England, Griffith later relocated to the United States. Before discovering her passion for writing, she taught self-defense and arm-wrestling to women. She now holds a Ph.D. in creative writing from Anglia Ruskin University and is a dual citizen of the UK and USA, following a successful immigration case.
Throughout her career, Griffith has received numerous awards for her writing, including the Washington State Book Award, World Fantasy Award, and Lambda Literary Awards. Some of her most notable works include "Hild" and "So Lucky," as well as the "Aud Torvingen" series. Griffith is also a co-editor of the Bending the Landscape series of anthologies and is currently working on the sequel to "Hild," titled "Menewood." She resides in Seattle with her wife, author Kelley Eskridge.
Griffith has won an impressive array of awards for her writing, including the Los Angeles Times' Ray Bradbury Prize, the Society of Authors' ADCI Literary Prize, the Washington State Book Award, the Nebula Award, the Otherwise/James Tiptree, Jr. Memorial Award, the World Fantasy Award, Premio Italia, and six Lambda Literary Awards. She is also the co-editor of the Bending the Landscape series of anthologies. In addition to her novels, Griffith has written a multi-media memoir and essays, and she is a teacher, blogger, and founder of the #criplit community on Twitter. Griffith is a wheelchair martial artist and holds a Ph.D. in creative writing from Anglia Ruskin University. She is a dual citizen of the UK and USA and currently resides in Seattle with her wife, writer Kelley Eskridge.
