Nik Morton is a British author, who hails from Gateshead in the United Kingdom. He has been writing for many years and has built a substantial following due to his unique brand of mystery thriller, science-fiction, and fantasy novels. Morton has published over 120 stories and numerous articles to date, and his work has been published under the name Ross Morton as well.
Morton's writing career began in 1971 when he sold his first short story. Since then, he has published a vast array of works, including 23 crime short stories collected in Leon Cazador, P.I., a romantic thriller series Catalyst, Catacomb and Cataclysm, Write a Western in 30 Days, three psychic spy Cold War thrillers Mission: Prague, Mission: Tehran, and Mission: Khyber, a romantic crime thriller An Evil Trade, and a vampire thriller set in Malta, Chill of the Shadow. Additionally, Morton has written five other collections of his short stories, including Gifts from a Dead Race, Nourish a Blind Life, Visitors, Codename Gaby, and I Celebrate Myself. Morton's westerns include Bullets for a Ballot and Coffin for Cash, and he has also written two sci-fi novellas in Continuity Girl. He has co-authored the fantasy novels Floreskand: Wings, Floreskand: King and Floreskand: Madurava with Gordon Faulkner.
Morton served in the Royal Navy for over twenty years and now lives in north-east England with his linguist/musician wife Jennifer. He was also the Editor in Chief of a US Publisher from 2011-2013. Morton's writing has been recognized with various awards, and he has had over 100 short stories published in different genres, including action, adventure, romance, ghost, horror, sci-fi, western, and crime. He has also edited periodicals, contributed hundreds of articles, book and film reviews, and chaired several writers' circles. Morton has run writing and screenplay workshops and has edited books for several years. In 2011-2013, he was Editor in Chief of a US publisher, but he stepped down to pursue his many writing projects. He and his wife lived in Spain for fifteen years but have since moved back to the UK, residing in Northumberland. Their daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter live nearby.
