Nikki Turner

Nikki Turner is a renowned author from America, well-known for her books and novels based on the urban fiction genre. She has earned the title of the 'Queen of the Hip Hop Lit' by the Trendsetter Magazine due to her immense success and popularity in this genre. The initial books written by Turner have sold more than 150,000 printed copies worldwide till 2005, and they continue to be in demand due to their excellent plot and intriguing characters. Some of her popular works include 'A Project Chick' and 'A Hustler's Wife'.

Nikki Turner was born in a town in Richmond, Virginia, United States. She completed her graduation from the Central University of North Carolina. Turner began her professional career with a job as a travel agent. However, she later quit that job and decided to become a full-time writer after realizing her deep interest in this field. According to Turner, she chose to write about urban fiction novels to show the dark side of street life that is often hidden by the glamor and glitz. Turner was very fond of reading books, which inspired her to become an author. One of the books that inspired her the most to become an author is 'The Coldest Winter Ever' by author Sistah Souljah.

After reading 'The Coldest Winter Ever' by Sistah Souljah, Turner was dismayed that there weren't other books like it. She wanted to write the kinds of books she wanted to read. Her 2002 debut novel, 'A Hustler's Wife', sold more than a few 100,000 copies. Although Turner's first two novels were published by a small publishing house in the Midwest, she later signed a 2-book deal with One World, an imprint of Ballantine Books, which is part of The Random House Publishing Group. After publishing the first book under that deal, 'The Glamorous Life' in 2005, as well as a short story collection edited by Nikki, 'Street Chronicles: Tales from da Hood', One World quickly signed Nikki up for three more Nikki Turner Original novels and negotiated a deal with her for her own book line, Nikki Turner Presents. Turner wants to give new authors the same kind of opportunity she was given and produce authors who will be household names.
