Noel Hynd is an American author, born in New York City in 1956, who has made a significant impact in the genres of spy thriller, suspense, horror, and action-espionage-suspense novels. He is also a screenwriter and has contributed to various publications, including Sports Illustrated. Hynd's journey to becoming a published author is quite interesting, as he was used as a literary bribe to release James Baldwin from his obligations at Doubleday, in exchange for Dial getting the first look at his adventure/espionage novel. This offer was made by Hynd's first agent, Robert Lantz, who was representing Baldwin at the time.
Hynd's novels have been highly acclaimed and have gained a wide readership, with nearly nine million books in print or downloaded into e-readers. His notable works include 'Flowers From Berlin', 'Return to Berlin', 'Truman's Spy', 'Murder in Miami', 'Hostage in Havana', 'Conspiracy in Kiev', 'Midnight in Madrid', 'Countdown in Cairo', 'The Enemy Within', 'Ghosts', 'The Prodigy', 'A Room For The Dead', and 'Cemetery of Angels'. The horror/psychological terror genre has been particularly successful for Hynd, with over a million copies sold and 'A Room For The Dead' appearing on the USA TODAY Best Seller list.
Hynd's newest spy thrillers include 'BETRAYAL IN BERLIN' (2022), 'JUDGMENT IN BERLIN' (2021), 'EISENHOWER'S SPY' (2020), 'RETURN TO BERLIN' (2019), and 'FIREBIRD' (2017). The 'Berlin' series is ongoing, blending espionage fiction and historical fiction. 'TRUMAN'S SPY' and 'EISENHOWER'S SPY' are also part of a "Presidential" Spy series that will continue through the Nixon Administration. Hynd's 24th published book, 'ASHES FROM A BURNING CORPSE', was published in 2017 and is a fact-based noir novel set in 1943, based on his late father's investigation into the murder of Sir Harry Oakes in the Bahamas.
Hynd is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and has also studied in Switzerland. He lives in southern California with his wife Patricia, and together they have co-founded an independent publishing imprint, Red Cat Tales, LLC, which publishes genre fiction and graphic novels in translation. Hynd is also a former contributor to Sports Illustrated and several other national magazines. He has published non-fiction books, including 'The Giants of The Polo Grounds' and 'The Last Game At Ebbets Field'. He has also written produced screenplays, such as 'AGENCY' and 'ILLEGAL IN BLUE'. Hynd's work has been translated into several foreign editions.
