Óliver Dean Spencer is an international crime fiction writer and artist who spends his time between Rome, Italy, and Montreal, Canada. He has published three novels as part of the James Cartwright PI series through Original Press. Currently, Spencer is working on the fourth book in the Cartwright series, titled "Theory of a Dead Man," as well as "The Fool's Overture," which is the second book in the Devon West Mystery Series.
Spencer's writing is heavily influenced by the hard-boiled P.I. pulp serials of the 1930s and 1950s. Some of his favorite authors include Philip K. Dick, Dashiell Hammett, Ross MacDonald, Raymond Chandler, and Edgar Allan Poe. His writing style reflects the gritty, fast-paced narratives and complex characters that are characteristic of this genre.
In addition to his work as a writer, Spencer is also a visual artist. He received his MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa in 2010 and his BFA in Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal in 2008. When he's not writing or creating art, Spencer enjoys spending time with his daughter and playing chess at a local café. He is also an avid painter and often incorporates his artistic talents into his writing, creating visually compelling and immersive worlds for his readers.
