Sally MacKenzie is a popular American author, known for her historical romance and historical fiction novels. She has written several widely successful books and series, including the Naked Nobility novel series, Spinster House book series, Duchess of Love book series, and the Widow's Brew novel series. MacKenzie's books are known for their sexy and funny romances set in Regency England. She has been a finalist for several prestigious awards and has appeared in the list of the top 10 romances of various magazines.
MacKenzie's interest in writing began in grade school when she shared one of her stories with her classmates. However, she did not start writing fiction until much later. After graduating with an English major, she attended law school, but soon realized that she did not want to be a lawyer. She then returned to the Washington, D.C. area and wrote regulations for the United States government’s school nutrition programs. It wasn't until her sons started driving and leaving for college that she decided to chase her dream of writing fiction. She joined the Romance Writers of America and entered her manuscript, The Naked Duke, into the 2004 Golden Heart contest. The stars aligned, and one of the judging editors liked the manuscript and offered to buy it.
MacKenzie's books have been translated into multiple foreign languages, including Norwegian, Romanian, Japanese, Czech, Portuguese, Indonesian, Russian, French, Turkish, and Spanish. In addition to her novels, she has also written short stories and picture book texts. When not writing, MacKenzie can be found at the gym, swimming, or volunteering at her local summer swim league. She currently lives with her husband in suburban Maryland, not far from her childhood home.
