Born in 1968, he gained early recognition with his debut short story collection, "Venus Drive," which was named one of the top twenty-five books of the year by The Village Voice Literary Supplement. His first novel, "The Subject of Steve," further established his reputation for sharp wit and incisive social commentary. Lipsyte's "Home Land," a satirical novel, earned critical acclaim and won the Believer Book Award.
