Samira Ahmed is a highly accomplished author, best known for her young adult novels and middle grade fantasy adventure series. Her work is both critically acclaimed and popular, with several of her books becoming New York Times Bestsellers. In addition to her success in literature, Ahmed has also made appearances in various media outlets, including the New York Times, Fox News, NBC, and NPR.
Ahmed was born in Bombay, India, and spent her formative years in Batavia, Illinois. She has fond memories of her childhood home, which was always filled with the aroma of spices, fried onions, and potpourri. After completing her education at the University of Chicago, Ahmed went on to teach high school English in both the suburbs of Chicago and New York City. She has also worked in education non-profits and spent time on the road for political campaigns.
In addition to her love of writing, Ahmed has lived in several different places throughout her life, including Vermont, New York City, and Kauai, where she spent a year searching for the perfect mango. Her experiences living in these diverse locations have undoubtedly influenced her writing and given her a unique perspective that is reflected in her work.
