Sara Bennett Wealer

Sara Bennett Wealer is a distinguished American author, renowned for her young adult novels that emphasize the importance of friendships over romantic relationships. Sara was born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, often known as the "Little Apple." She had a diverse range of interests during her high school years, including singing with the show choir and writing for her school's newspaper.

Sara pursued her passion for singing by majoring in vocal performance at the University of Kansas. However, she soon realized that a career in opera singing was not the right path for her. Consequently, she transferred to journalism school, where she could continue to hone her writing skills without the pressure of perfecting her high Cs or portraying a Valkyrie. After her graduation, Sara embarked on a successful writing career, starting as a beat reporter and then moving on to public relations, advertising, and even theme park design.

Currently, Sara resides in Cincinnati with her husband and daughters. She continues to pursue her love for singing, performing most recently with the May Festival Chorus, the official choir of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Sara's unique background in music and journalism has given her a distinct perspective that she brings to her young adult novels. Her readers appreciate her emphasis on friendships, which sets her books apart in the genre. Sara is represented by Holly Root at Root Literary.
