Sarah Hilary is a highly acclaimed crime novelist from the United Kingdom. She was born in Cheshire but later moved to the South East where she pursued her higher education. Sarah graduated with a first-class honors degree in History with Ideas specialty. Her work experience includes time spent with the Royal Navy and working as a bookseller. She currently resides in Bath with her family, which includes her husband and young daughter, where she dedicates herself to writing full-time. Sarah is best known for her crime novels that are set in Los Angeles and London.
Sarah's debut novel, "Someone Else's Skin," was published in 2014 and was an instant success. It won the Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year and was a World Book Night selection. The novel was also an Observer's Book of the Month, described as "superbly disturbing," and a Richard & Judy Book Club bestseller. It was also a finalist for the Silver Falchion and Macavity Awards in the US. Sarah's second novel, "No Other Darkness," was published in 2015 and was shortlisted for a Barry Award. Her DI Marnie Rome series has continued to receive critical acclaim with "Tastes Like Fear" (longlisted for Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year 2017), "Quieter Than Killing" (Observer’s Thriller of the Month), and "Come and Find Me" (published in 2018). Her latest novel, "Never Be Broken," was published in 2019.
Sarah's new standalone novel "BLACK THORN" was published in summer 2023 by Pan Macmillan. Her first standalone novel "FRAGILE" was published in 2021, which received praise from Mick Herron who described it as 'a dark river of a book' and Erin Kelly who said, 'Timeless, tense and tender, Fragile will worm its way deep into your heart.' Sarah's work has been widely recognized and acclaimed, making her one of the most respected crime novelists in the UK.
