Sarah Kozloff

Sarah Kozloff is a distinguished American writer and professor, renowned for her captivating fantasy novels. She has spent her life enveloped in literature, narrative, and film, which is evident in her unique and engaging brand of fantasy. After earning her English degree from Dartmouth, Kozloff worked in film production in New York City and later acquired a Ph.D. from an interdisciplinary program at Stanford University. She joined the Film Department of Vassar College in 1988 and was awarded the William R. Kenan Jr. Endowed Chair in 2009.

Kozloff's journey into creative writing began in 2012 when she realized that neither the books nor films of Lord of the Rings could pass the Bechdel Test. This revelation inspired her to imagine a world that awaited the return of the queen, leading to her epic fantasy quartet, The Nine Realms. Published by TOR, the quartet includes A Queen in Hiding, The Queen of Raiders, A Broken Queen, and The Cerulean Queen, all of which were released within a span of four months in 2020. Her precise use of language, creative storylines, and well-developed characters have drawn in readers from all over the world, establishing her as a formidable force in the realm of fantasy literature.

Kozloff currently resides in the Hudson Valley with her husband and a menagerie of pets, who she affectionately refers to as suitable replacements for her grown sons. Her immersion in literature, narrative, and film is evident in her writing, which articulates her thoughts and ideas in a manner that is both unique and engaging. Her ability to create intricate worlds and well-developed characters has set her apart from other writers in the genre, making her a standout author in the world of fantasy.
