Her work has been translated into over 18 different languages and has been shortlisted for several awards, including the Waterstones Children's Book Prize, Children's Books Ireland Book of the Year, and the Irish Book Awards.
Fitzgerald is also a dedicated wife and mother, and she lives in Limerick with her husband and three children. In addition to her work as a writer and academic, she enjoys cycling and is active on Twitter, where she can be found at @SmooreFitz. Fitzgerald is also passionate about encouraging and supporting other writers, and she holds writers retreats for both students and academics in Ireland and internationally. Her next novel for children, "All The Money In The World," was released in July 2021 and explores themes of privilege, class, and identity.
